It's All in the Name

Our expansion into seed garlic is going fairly well so far. The first two varieties planted have already peaked their first leaves out of the ground, and with the winter setting in, there's not much to do until spring. One thing that we can do is begin to work on our marketing efforts for our first selling season in 2016. Our goal for our sales of seed garlic is to be as professional as possible, whilst delivering the highest quality product as possible. I've found that it can sometimes be easy to see farm products as dirty, earthy things and take on a lax attitude toward their presentation, but with our seed garlic I want the presentation to be slick and sleek.

To that end, we are planning on creating a separate trade name for all things related to garlic--not because we want to hide the Thoughtful Food brand, but because we want to create a new brand that can belong 100% to the garlic business. We want to create a separate new website, a separate, professionally designed logo, and lastly, we want to come up with a really good name. Jen and I have been throwing around a lot of ideas recently, but we can't seems to come up with anything that really feels optimum. Our target market is gardeners and small farmers on the west side of the Cascade Mountains (Western Washington, Oregon, and Northern California), and we thought it might make sense to choose a place name to evoke the geographical connection. So far, we've come up with "Chuckanut," "Cascade," "Pacific," "Skagit Valley," "Mt. Baker", and other similar geographic names. One permuation might be something like "Chuckanut Organic Seed Garlic Co." We don't want to make the name too long, but we do want it to be meaningful. If you have any suggestions or ideas, let us know if the comments. We want to get the website domain registered and up as soon as possible so that we can start to show up in search results.

I think you should leave out "seed garlic" from the business name incase you want to sell garlic (either retail or wholesale) for consumption in the future (as bulbs or as garlic scapes).
Something simple like:
"Bow Organic Garlic" or "Chuckanut Organic Garlic" assuming you will definitely always be Organic.
Regardless, separating the garlic enterprise from the farm in general makes a lot of sense.
Good luck.
